Three Cat Thursdays will be dark on November 22nd for the Thanksgiving holiday but will be back November 29th at 8:00pm the incredibly talent singer songwriter Ingrid Graudins. Having recorded a self titled CD in 2000 entitled “Brave Again”, Ingrid can be seen on album projects, commercials, live dates with bands like Tributosaurus (a Chicago monthly tribute band) and mini tours with the lovely Boston-based alt/folk goddess Catie Curtis and the awesome Chicago-based new folk artist Alice Peacock.

About Ingrid Graudins:

I have been singing as long as I can remember… sticking my ear right up to the speaker and singing along and trying to match the tone of barbra (Please!) or joni mitchell (sigh) and even barry manilow (for gosh sakes!) crosby, stills and nash (helplessly hoping, our house - oy!) and so many others. Studying classical piano for 16 years gave me a nice base to write and play and live with music in my life.

My claim to fame is my years spent with the amazing singer-songwriter Jonatha Brooke, of “The Story” originally, and then as a solo artist in her own right. I recorded three albums with her and toured the country and abroad a few times with her and went to “background singer bootcamp” and became a strong blending singer and found my moments to shine as well.

I released my first solo record in 2000 on my own label, Booglet Records, titled “Brave Again” which can be found by going to my website www.ingridg.com — it’s got a lot of great Chicago musicians on it as well as a couple of cool New York guys on it who all gave it such a wonderful, magical feel. I still like it even after all these years.

I continue to sing as much as I can in Chicago on album projects, commercials, live dates with bands like Tributosaurus (a Chicago monthly tribute band) and I regularly go on mini tours with the lovely Boston-based alt/folk goddess Catie Curtis and the awesome Chicago-based new folk artist Alice Peacock (Chicago).

Alongside my love for music is my huge love for animals, which is why I volunteer at a cageless, no-kill cat shelter called Felines, Inc. There is something poetic about a cat – and there’s something symphonic about seeing over 100 cats roaming, sleeping, curling, stretching, playing, chasing, napping, stalking, grooming, and just being their soft furry selves. It’s wonderful therapy to be with them every week and photographing their splendid grace and sometimes clownish absurdity.

Finishing out the October line-up on October 25th is Three Cat Thursdays “Featured Artist” Laura Freeman. A truly amazing talent and wonderful person, Freeman will be performing all new material. With background as a singer and actress, Freeman joined by accompanist Jeffrey Roscoe puts together an intimate evening of song.

About Laura Freeman:
What do you want to be when you grow up? Since Laura was a child she wanted to be a singer. Not just anywhere, but in a small club where she could connect with an audience, and they could share an evening of laughter and friendship. Originally a Musical Theatre performer, Laura knows her way into the soul of a song. She spent the 90’s touring around the world with various productions. Some of her favorite roles were the Witch in ‘Into The Woods,’ The Narrator in ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,’ and as a member of the tribe in ‘Hair.’ But the experience of singing in an intimate setting is what Laura loves more than anything else. Come and enjoy an evening of Musical Theatre, Pop and the Great American Songbook. The night is relaxed, she’ll talk about her life, she’ll take requests…you’ll get to know each other. Think “The View” with music! Laura performs in and around the Chicago area. You can catch her at the Gentry on State, 3160, and working for the Cultural Center of Chicago at various events throughout the city. Always looking for new venues and new gigs, Laura hopes her music will touch you and that fate leads her toward new opportunities.
